This is the website of Jeff Cobb. Software engineer, hacker, blues music fan. Currently I am located in the San Francisco area, I am in the process of moving to Las Vegas, the Henderson area to be exact. I have been writing software since 1983 and learning about the blues since 1994. Originally from the mid-west (Kalamazoo, MI), my profession has taken me all over the country.
A developer by trade, I do C/C++/Python development mostly and dabble in a handful of others (Java/Android, Perl, toying with some Ruby). Current challenges include cross-platform (Windows/Linux with some Mac) and cross-architecture (currently x86 and CellBE) development as well. With my wife Beth (also a geek) DVD Metabase was born. Beth and I also came up with EZRip to feed the Video On Demand system that we concocted. DVD Metabase is an all-inclusive project currently covering the media import cycle, metadata discovery and reporting. Soon however this system will extend to the OSD for a one-of-a-kind viewing experience.
I am also keenly interested in unorthodox concurrent development methods and platforms and how to solve larger problems with them. You will find the beginnings of a project as a proof of concept in the tech section.
Musically I love Chicago blues the most though Delta, Texas and West Coast blues are also favorites of mine. I play some guitar but still very much the student.
Ironically enough, recently I found myself at a blues jam in Southern California, holding a Kalamazoo acoustic guitar, the same type as was featured in one of two famous photographs of Robert Johnson:

Me to you.
